FOOTBALL PLAYERS

Introduction:

Football players are categorized into two players’ namely offensive players and defensive players. The majority of the football players have an extremely specialized role. At the college level or National level, most of the players play only defense or only offense. Each team consists of eleven players on the playing field. The divisions of players who hold kicking plays are called as special teams. Punters are the two main special teams’ players who manage punts and, the place-kicker or the kicker who normally kicks off and attempt ground goals and tries to get extra points.

Categories of Football Player:

The football players are classified into two categories such as offensive player and defensive player. They play offense and defense which can be illustrated below:

1. Offense: In offense play, there is a line called offensive line (OL) consisting of five players, whose work is to protect the forward passer, clear the path for runners of the offensive players and blocking players of the defense. Generally, offensive linemen do not touch the ball. The quarterback is the main leader of the team offense and  call out the plays that are signaled to him from the sidelines.There are players called Running backs (RB), who specalize in running along with the ball and they also catch, block and pass the ball to others on rare occassions. Wide receivers (WR) lineup close to the sidelines and they usually catch and passes the ball and sometime block the way.
2. Defense: In defense play, there is also a line known as Defensive line which consists of three to six players, who are placed to lineup instantly across from the offensive sideline. Defensive backs are either safeties or cornerbacks lined up by three players. There are other players are called as linebackers. They lineup between defensive backs and defensive line and rush or, cover the potential receivers.
